Lest We Forget

November, the month to remember our veterans and the soldiers who kept peace by paying with their lives and we pay our tribute to them with 2 min. of silence, and an assembly to mourn those who died in the war.

Unfortunately, war still exists to this very day. Canadian forces are still in Afghanistan defending our country and to help the citizens of Afghanistan, and soldiers there die everyday and their coffins are sent back to Canada on Remembrance Day and they were given honour, respect, and a formal burial by our surviving veterans of WWI and WWII.

Our assembly was actually at 10 am because the cafeteria couldn't fit both grades and the gr. 8's gets to go at 10:45 where they took part in the real 2 min. of silence (that's not fair, we should get to mourn our war heroes at the right time!). Now, back to our assembly, it was silent all the way with Mrs. Howells and Mrs. Gassi playing music especially written for these occasions and we watched a slideshow and a video called:"A Pittance of Time" (Click on the name to download the song), and tears came out of my eyes when I saw this emotional and powerful video and I thought of how many families war has torn apart and how many people are still sad about their brave son, husband, brother, and so on. It is indeed a day of sadness and it's definitely a day to remember and be thankful of what we have now, because without our war heroes and their lives, Canada would not be what it is now: a free and democratic country.

School Yearbook

As we approach the holidays, I find myself to have little time left to finish our class yearbook page (yes, I'm in charge with it and sorry, no more spots available for new joiners!). The worst thing about the yearbook is that I can't seem to make the page the way I want it to be due to some umm... ahem.... technical difficulties... oh who am I kidding! It's the yearbook website that won't let me shrink pictures down to size!

OK, let’s forget about the publishing of the yearbook for now because this post is more based on the fun of photoshopping everyone in my class (YAY!!!)! So, I was deciding how the class page should look like when I came across the idea of putting some kind of goofy body on everyone, and that became the foundation of the page.

Now, since I have no idea how to use Photoshop, I started watching a series of 105 tutorial videos on Photoshop in Chinese (each video is about 5 minutes, so 105 times 5= 525 min. or 8 hrs. and 45 min. and don’t bother asking why it is in Chinese)! Fortunately, I know what to do after about a dozen tutorials, and I started cutting everyone’s head off from the class picture (yes, that includes my homeroom teacher), then I called a yearbook meeting discussing what to put on who, and soon, I pasted the bodies onto everyone and have a grand collection of heads, bodies, and the finished work!

Now I have the class photoshopped, I just have to figure out how to fit everyone onto the class page, if anyone has an idea, leave it in the comments section (the page is standard paper size). Now to finish this post, I will put up some of my class after they have been photoshopped. Enjoy!
